Effective May 7, 2025, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will require all personnel seeking access to nuclear power plants and federal facilities to present a REAL ID compliant identification or an acceptable alternative including a US passport or another form of federally recognized identifications.
The REAL ID requirement may apply to all workers, contractors, and other personnel who need to access sites. This change aims to strengthen security measures at sensitive locations and ensure that all individuals accessing these facilities have valid, federally approved identification.
